The radar reflector is mandatory beyond 12 miles and, combined with Colreg daytime signals , increases your vessel's visibility on any radar screen. The corner-cell geometry reflects the radar echo, so yachts, dinghies, and sailboats appear clearly on the plotters of merchant ships and fishing vessels, reducing the risk of collisions with rocks, lighthouses, and other vessels.
