Collection: Trumpets, Horns
Horns and sounders 2025. In the new safety equipment, the term "sound signaling devices" has been replaced by "Whistle + Bell" for vessels over 12 m in length, mandatory from one mile out to sea. The bell may be replaced by a certified portable sound device.
According to Colreg '72, all pleasure craft must be able to emit an approved sound signal , and the requirements change according to length:
-
Up to 12 m (boats and small vessels): a single sound signal is sufficient — compact electric horn, gas horn or manual horn — capable of producing a clearly audible signal (≥ 100 dB).
-
Above 12 m : the "Whistle + Bell" requirement applies. The bell may be replaced by a certified portable device that reproduces the same sound.
At Hubmarine you'll find both solutions: electric and manual horns suitable for boats under 12 m, as well as brass whistles and IMO/RINA bells for larger vessels, with technical data sheets and declared sound levels for sailing in full compliance with the regulations.
